Sources Say New Windows 7 PC Buyers Will Be Able To Upgrade To Windows 8 Pro For $15

Whenever a new Windows OS rears its head, Microsoft alleviates the concerns of wary would-be PC buyers who may be tempted to put off purchasing a new computer for couple of months by offering them a free upgrade to the soon-to-be-released Windows flavor. That may grind to a halt with Windows 8; several sources say Microsoft will still give recent Windows 7 PC buyers a chance to upgrade, but only if buyers shell out another $14.99.
However, that $14.99 bucks will net users full access to Windows 8 Pro rather than the everyday Windows 8 OS, CNET’s Mary Jo Folley and Microsoft-focused reporter Paul Thurrott report. Windows 8 Pro includes geek-friendly features like file encryption and virtualization support. It may seem a bit like double dipping, but according to Foley and Thurrott’s sources, the offer will be available to anybody who buys a PC running at least Windows 7 Home Basic after June 2nd — giving Home Basic buyers very low-cost access to Pro-level features.

Apple have recently released a 6th generation Apple along with a 4th generation iPod Touch and iPod Shuffle to keep up with competition from Sony’s Walkman range. The portable media device market has largely been dominated by Apple and in particular Apple’s iPod range since the first generation releases way back in 2001 which didn’t just leave Sony’s Walkman brand in the dark but just about every other media player device manufacturer in the dark.

A new range of budget tablet computers has been launched by IT firm Elonex. Unveiled at the Gadget Show in Birmingham on Tuesday, the range consists of two 7-inch Android tablets ? the Etouch 760ET and the Etouch 702ET ? and four 10-inch devices – the Etouch Blade 1000ET, 1044ET, 1040ET and 1043ET.

Toshiba Launches First Android Laptop

Toshiba has launched its first laptop to feature the Google Android mobile operating system . In addition to the Android 2.1 OS, the AC100 notebook also features a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 250 processor, a 10.1 inch 1024×600 resolution display, 8GB of in-built storage, 512MB RAM, an SD reader and a 1.3 megapixel camera. The computer also has WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, while 3G connectivity is also available. The PC is extremely sleek, measuring just 262x190x14mm, and weighing just 870 grams. One of the main features of the AC100 is the speedy access it offers to emails and the internet . With a boot time of under a second, and the option to keep the device on standby for up to seven days, the notebook is ideal for those requiring quick access to documents, emails and the web while on the move.

Dell has launched its new ‘bargain’ machine. Offering first AMD processor notebook – the Inspiron 1501, the company has designed this machine specifically for the budget sector. The built-in-quality of the machine is not outstanding. However, the laptop does well, but there is a ‘flex’ in the chassis when you push it. The machine is not physically very robust.
